We have had a rough winter !

We took July 4th off this year & went to Christmas in July in our home town.

Santa was there !!!

Came home & Michael fried up

some chicken !!!

We went to the Cree Indian Community -- It was great !!

The first photo's is an Indian Custom "Walking Out Ceremony".

There is a tree out side the tent - under it is a goose - rifle - a bundle of wood & boughs.

Notice the walk-way they made from boughs

The walk-way comes to this tree

Drayton now old enough to "Walk Out" is coming out of the tent carrying a "bow-n-arrow"

He walks to the tree & helps fire

the rifle --  picks up the dead

goose under the tree

& drags it back to the tent.  This means

he will be a hunter & provide food

for his family.

Alicia comes out carrying a "kettle". 

She goes to the tree & picks up

the bundle of wood & boughs.

 She drags it back to the tent.  This

means she will cook meals for her family & make a fire with the wood to keep them warm & lay down boughs for their floor.

The custom is explaned before they

walk & they are prayed over.

Also once a week you can come to this

same location & the adult woman

teach the young girls how to cook &

how to do several of the crafts

they did growing up.

We enjoyed so much being part of the

"Walking Out Ceremony".  It is normally done elsewhere.  However because Michael & I were guests in their community they had the Ceremony here just so

we could come.

As you will see in the next photo's they

were very very kind to us & loved on us & made us feel so welcome. 

We hope we were a blessing to them as they were to us !!!
